A group of the world's top FPGA developers have been enlisted to share their expertise with electronics industry at one of Europe's leading FPGA events, being staged in London by the IEE.

The IEE FPGA Developers' Forum, supported by Mentor Graphics and Xilinx, will take place on 21st and 22nd October 2003, and will bring together leading industry analysts, technical specialists and commercial developers.

The event will be held at The IEE, Savoy Place, London.

Internationally recognised industry experts presenting include Peter Alfke (Xilinx), Malachy Devlin (Nallatech), Seth Goldstein, (Carnegie Mellon), Pat Mead (Altera), Bob Madahar (BAe Systems), Ian Page (Celoxica), Richard Walke (QinetiQ), and Rich Wawrzyniak (Semico Research).

The programme will address today's most pressing issues in FPGA specification, applications, design and development.

"The FPGA industry is at a crossroads: having firmly established itself in digital logical design field it is now taking a firm aim at the SoC market as vendors incorporate microprocessors and mixed signal functionality onto FPGA silicon.

This event will bring together many of the key players in this industry to discuss the key aspects of the technology through real life case studies", said Roger Woods, Conference Chair and Senior Lecturer at Queen's University Belfast.

The first day is based around industry experts sharing their experiences in implementing complex systems using FPGA technologies and will address areas such as tools, hardware and software developments.

The second day will involve leading researchers discussing their knowledge of using FPGAs in a range of areas including nanotechnology, software defined radio, aerospace and image processing.
