Policy role for Paterson
The IEE has appointed Graham Paterson as Head of Policy.
The IEE has appointed Graham Paterson as Head of Policy, effective 1st April 2005.
The IEE's Policy Department acts as the interface between the profession and Government and Parliament in areas of interest that include: electrical and electronic engineering, energy, manufacturing, IT and communications.
"Whilst everything we do is relevant to the profession, our interests extend beyond just engineering and technology and cover areas such as education, the environment, and health", says Paterson.
"In addition to our policy role we have a website that contains a wealth of material to help explain key issues such as mobile phones and renewable energy sources".
Graham Paterson joined the engineering policy staff of the IEE in 2004 following a 38 year career as an engineer in the Royal Air Force.
After qualifying as an electronics technician he was selected for engineer officer training and studied for his degree at the Royal Air Force College.
He had operational tours on aircraft, weapon systems and ICT systems.
Away from the front line he spent time in the MoD and subsequently headed equipment procurement and support organisations.
His final appointment was as Director of Engineer and Supply Officer Training.
He is a Chartered Engineer, Fellow of the IEE, Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society and Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute.
