The deadline for receipt of submissions for the inaugural IEE Innovation in Engineering Awards is fast approaching with winners due to be announced on 14th September 2005.

The deadline for receipt of submissions for the inaugural IEE Innovation in Engineering Awards is fast approaching with winners due to be announced at a prestigious ceremony at the IEE, Savoy Place, London on 14th September 2005.

Entries close on 15th June.

The IEE Innovation in Engineering Awards is the first multisector awards dedicated to recognising outstanding innovation in engineering.

The awards represent a unique opportunity for industry innovators to be recognised and rewarded by a panel of esteemed industry leaders including Internet pioneer Sir Tim Berners- Lee, Sir John Chisholm QinetiQ Chief Executive, Alice Rawsthorn Director of the Design Museum, Dr Raj Rajagopal Chief Executive of BOC Edwards and Sir Robin Saxby ARM Executive Chairman.

Dr Alf Roberts, Chief Executive of the IEE, believes these awards reflect the IEE's commitment to technological advancement: "Innovation is the keystone to success and these awards bring together industry leaders and forward thinking companies to celebrate outstanding contributions to society".

Individuals and organisations are invited to submit for awards in the sectors of manufacturing, electronics, transport, information technology, security, telecommunications, power, robotics and control and electrical technologies.

There are also a further six cross-disciplinary categories including project team, emerging technologies, product design and sustainability.

Entries must be an innovative engineering project, product or process for commercial use that demonstrates genuine novelty and represents a significant technology advance.
