Ixxat is working with Freescale to provide "off-the-shelf" software protocols for CANopen, DeviceNet, Ethernet/IP and Ethernet Powerlink for the ColdFire architecture.

These embedded protocol stacks will be available for sale through Freescale's DevToolDirect online service as royalty-free source code at very competitive prices.

The relationship will greatly simplify and accelerate a developer's ability to capitalise on the advantages inherent in these advanced technologies.

By acquiring a ColdFire processor and Ixxat's protocols, ColdFire architecture developers will be able to take full advantage of the "on-chip" CAN and Ethernet standard interfaces and begin project development immediately.

Ixxat's protocols are available for use with or without an RTOS, and will also be supported by Freescale's RTOS partners like ARC international and Wind River.
