At the SAE 2005 World Congress, Ixxat will introduce a FlexRay car communications module and Multibus analyser for the development and rapid prototyping of FlexRay in-vehicle networks.

Next week at the SAE 2005 World Congress, Ixxat will introduce a FlexRay car communications module (CCM) and Multibus analyser for the development and rapid prototyping of FlexRay in-vehicle networks The FlexRay car communications module features two CAN interfaces and two FlexRay channels connected to a PC through a TCP/IP Ethernet port which provides a platform for development and rapid prototyping of FlexRay networks in automobiles

The FlexRay CCM provides a platform for the development of customised FlexRay test and service applications and can be used together with Ixxat's new Multibus analyser.

It features a Fast-Ethernet TCP/IP (100Mbit/s) connection to the host PC and provides sufficient data processing performance (MPC 866, 133MHz) for handling high datarates without losing data.

The FlexRay CCM uses the latest available FlexRay chip from Freescale Semiconductor (MFR4200, MFR4200A) and includes a provision for upgrading to future silicon releases which can be made by virtue of a plug-in piggy-back module.

In addition to the two 10Mbit/s FlexRay channels, the interface provides two CAN interfaces (ISO11898-2 and 11898-3) for reception of time stamped FlexRay and CAN messages.

Four fully programmable trigger outputs, controlled via FlexRay and CAN messages, are used to trigger external hardware components.

In addition, two trigger input channels are available for sending specific messages.

The FlexRay CCM includes a Windows API which provides functions for configuration, reception and transmission of FlexRay and CAN messages for developing specific PC applications.

The rapid prototyping feature allows developers to use their own target hardware for producing functional prototypes and basic driver interfaces through an embedded board support package option.

This architecture allows the target controller to use the FlexRay section as well as the CAN section of the FlexRay CCM to upload application firmware in the unit's Flash memory via Ethernet.

Based on its many years of experience with the development of software and hardware for embedded communication systems inside automobiles (CAN, byteflight, LIN) and its in-depth knowledge of the FlexRay protocol, Ixxat also offers development services for software and hardware components of FlexRay systems.
