A new family of power MOSFETs have been designed into Samsung plasma display panels, including the largest PDP TV ever built with a diagonal viewing dimension of 102in.

A new family of PolarHT power MOSFETs from Ixys Corp have been designed into Samsung plasma display panels, including the largest PDP TV ever built with a diagonal viewing dimension of 102in.

Ixys has been at the forefront of PDP power device driver technology and with the introduction of PolarHT, has become a leading supplier of power MOSFETs to PDP makers including Samsung.

PolarHT is Ixys' newest power MOSFET technology (patent pending), that dramatically enhance the power handling capability and system efficiency in plasma displays where plasma discharge sustain currents can be as high as 160A.

"These design and process changes applied to the PolarHT family of power MOSFETs provide 'best-in-class' performance, to enable significantly improved energy efficiency and reduced heating, a critical requirement for PDP makers", according to Dan Schwob, Ixys Sr VP Marketing.

"We continue to invest in power device and IC driver technologies for the flat panel display markets as a significant growth opportunity for Ixys".
