Card connectors offer handset flexibility
High quality MicroSD card connectors are designed for both internal and removable MicroSD cards.
With MicroSD memory now accepted by cellular markets as the format of choice for adding capacity and ensuring handset expansion and upgrade potential, JAE has launched high quality MicroSD card connectors for internal and removable MicroSD cards.
These allow designers to build added flexibility into new handsets, to respond quickly as 3G mobile market requirements are currently changing fast.
The ST1 and ST2 connectors have a long lifetime of 10,000 insertions, and allow designers to choose a fixed or removable media card solution.
The ST1 series has a push-slide hinge with a lockable cover designed to withstand dropping without bursting open.
The ST2 series are push-push type connectors, allowing the end user to insert, remove and change the media card as required.
This will be an advantage to music or camera phones, allowing handset owners to maintain and share personal files using the handset.
Both feature a compact and slim design, with four ground connection points and eight signal contacts per the MicroSD card standard, rated to 10V/0.5A per pin.
The ST1 series measures 1.9 x 16.3 x 14.15mm, enables easy insertion, and is designed to cover the inserted card for high resilience to shock including dropping.
The ST2 series for user-removable cards has a mounted height of 1.7mm, and measures 15.5 x 14.5mm.
A card insertion detection structure prevents damage by incorrect insertion, and a metallic eject bar is also provided to facilitate card removal.
All members of the ST1 and ST2 series are lead-free and meet RoHS requirements, allowing products incorporating these connectors to be certified for sale in any market worldwide.
