Visible solid-state laser adopts telecomms design
The FCD488 is the first telecomms-based visible solid-state laser designed for biomedical, industrial and semiconductor applications.
The OCC-56, developed for DWDM network operators, system installation teams and maintenance and surveillance teams, is available in C-band or L-band models.
It is specifically designed for DWDM system installation and upgrades, channel routing verification in ROADM networks and troubleshooting DWDM systems.
"The increased number of DWDM projects is driving demand for more basic testing tools in order to increase productivity of technicians, while growth in ROADM networks calls for a field installation tool for wavelength routing verification", says Enzo di Luigi, General Manager of JDSU's fibre Optics Communications Test and Measurement group.
"JDSU offers the industry's most innovative fibre field test solutions, from full-featured OSAs to more compact, lower-cost solutions such as the SmartClass OCC-56".
The OCC-56 is compatible with the JDSU TLS-55, the industry's smallest and most lightweight tunable laser source designed for channel routing applications, such as wavelength tracking, in ROADM networks.
JDSU is the industry leader in ROADM solutions for telecommunications applications, with a broad portfolio of ROADM technologies and solutions.
When coupled, the OCC-56 and TLS-55 provide the industry's most compact and economical field solution for wavelength connectivity testing at the optical layer and verification of ROADM functionality.
Additional performance features for the OCC-56 include support for 50, 100 or 200GHz channel spacing (according to ITU-T), unlimited result storage capacity (on external thumb drive), an easy-to-read tabular display, and extended battery lifetime (using standard and rechargeable AA batteries).
The OCC-56 weighs approximately 500g.
