Driver development tools handle 64bit datarates
Driver development tools from Jungo Software Technologies now support 64bit PCI data transfers on x86 platforms running 32bit operating systems.
WinDriver and KernelDriver are market leading driver development tools that simplify the development of device drivers for USB, PCI, CompactPCI, ISA, ISAPnP and EISA custom hardware under Windows 95, 98, Me, NT, 2000, XP, Windows CE, Linux, Solaris and VxWorks.
The tools feature graphical development environments, APIs, diagnostic and debug utilities and samples, and eliminate the need for both kernel and DDK knowledge.
WDM has emerged as the standard by which plug and play and power management for Windows operating systems is implemented.
Jungo's tools now enable writing drivers which employ the full spectrum of the WDM capabilities.
This latest version of WinDriver and KernelDriver now allow the use of the additional bandwidth provided by 64bit hardware and enable 64bit data transfer on x86 platforms running 32bit operating systems.
Drivers developed with WinDriver or KernelDriver will attain significantly better performance results than drivers written with the DDK or other driver development tools that do not support this feature.
Jungo's driver tools now provide enhanced support for the PLX PCI 9656 I/O Accelerator chip.
WinDriver and KernelDriver include a special set of APIs for PLX's 64bit silicon, which implements PCI 9656 access and control.
A sample PCI 9656 application is included and can be used as a skeletal driver to further jump start driver development.
The PCI 9656 I/O accelerator is the industry's first bus-mastering silicon to enable 64bit, 66MHz operation in adapters and embedded hosts that incorporate Motorola PowerQUICC processors or generic 32bit, 66MHz local bus designs.
The PCI 9656 serves designs that demand maximum PCI bandwidth without incurring the expense or effort of implementing 64bit peripherals on the local bus.
WinDriver now further eases driver distribution.
Drivers developed with WinDriver require installation of only one kernel module on target computers.
An enhanced utility enables smooth and easy installation and removal of drivers on both customers' and target computers.
Moreover, in one mouse click, WinDriver automates INF installation, eliminating the multiple steps involved in the end user's exposure to Windows' "found new hardware" wizard.
These features, in addition to the enhanced driver generation wizard, provide an even better user experience with WinDriver and KernelDriver and a rapid development cycle for device drivers and hardware access applications.
Version 5.20 features additional enhancements including WinDriver and KernelDriver API support for multiple interface USB devices, dual processor and SMP support on Linux and scatter/gather DMA support on Linux 2.4 "Jungo continues to push forward tools that support the latest technology advances and enable the easy development of high performance, stable device drivers, to provide its customers and partners with the most effective means to develop software solutions for their hardware devices", said Ophir Herbst, General Manager, Software Tools Division at Jungo.
