Jungo Software Technologies has released version 8 of its market leading WinDriver product line.

Jungo Software Technologies has released version 8 of its market leading WinDriver product line: the WinDriver USB/PCI development tool for high-performance and cross-operating system user-mode USB/PCI/PCIe device drivers supporting Windows, Windows CE, Linux, Solaris and VxWorks; and WinDriver USB Device for USB firmware code generation.

The new WinDriver USB/PCI release supports Windows XP 64bit environments and Windows Server 2003 64bit environments (x64) on the Intel EM64T and AMD64 architectures.

In addition to the existing code generation in C, Delphi and Visual Basic, WinDriver 8 now also supports automatic driver code generation in C# and Visual Basic.NET, as well as driver projects for the latest Visual Studio 2005 development environment.

For the Linux operating system, WinDriver 8 now supports the latest Linux kernel 2.6.14, and completes the support for 64bit environments such as Intel Itanium and Itanium 2 architectures (IA64), in addition to the already supported Intel EM64T and AMD64 architectures.

WinDriver version 8 also includes support for the Solaris 10 and OpenSolaris operating systems, thereby providing a complete cross operating support to all latest Windows, Linux and Solaris platforms.

WinDriver USB Device version 8, the firmware development toolkit, now includes USB chapter-9 support for the Philips PDIUSBD12 chipset, adding to the already supported Cypress FX2LP, Microchip PIC18F4550 and Silicon Laboratories C8051F320 USB controllers.

For the first time, WinDriver USB Device also includes a ready-made mass storage class library optimised for 8051 microcontrollers, including the support for double buffering and removable media, to implement standard USB mass storage connectivity within the Microchip PIC18F4550 development board.

"We are extremely proud to announce this feature-rich major release of Jungo's market leading product line, WinDriver", said Omry Ben David, Marketing Manager of the Software Tools Division at Jungo.

"The new version offers unparalleled support for both PC USB/PCI driver development and USB firmware development on variety of popular controllers, reinforcing Jungo's commitment to our thousands of customers to provide complete solutions for driver and firmware development".

Existing Jungo customers with a valid support subscription are entitled to upgrade to version 8 free of charge.

Jungo offers a free, full-featured, 30 day evaluation version of WinDriver USB/PCI for host driver development and WinDriver USB Device for firmware code generation.

Both toolkits are available for download from the Jungo website.
