Remote I/O manager enables complex control
The Rhio10 is a new compact but flexible control interface for remote control and monitoring of applications over a network.
The Rhio10 is a new compact but flexible control interface for remote control and monitoring of applications over a network.
It has 12 optoisolated digital inputs, 10 relay outputs and four 10bit A/D inputs, with programmable settings.
On the Ethernet side, the Rhio10 features 10Base-T network interface and supports static and DHCP IP modes for easy setup and integration with different network types.
The 12 digital inputs are optically isolated for system protection and allow voltage levels from 0 to +/-24V, which greatly reduces interface problems.
They can be used just to sense whether equipment is on or off, switches have been pressed and similar tasks, or the input system can be set in an event driven mode when it can send data on alarm conditions or on change-of-state events.
The 10 digital outputs can also operate in simple on/off mode or they can be programmed with specific delay times or a range of on/off timings or basic programmable logic such as and, or and not functions for more complex control and timing operations.
The power-on states of each channel can also be set to avoid incorrect or indeterminate start up states.
Each relay output is capable of driving 220V circuits at 3A with 10ms reaction times.
The unit also has four 10bit analogue to digital input channels, using highly accurate integrating A/D circuits with 1ms sample rate, which makes them ideal for sensor inputs such as thermocouples.
These A2D inputs have an input range of 0-5V and support both threshold detection and data acquisition.
All the inputs and outputs are protected from damage under power on and power off conditions.
Each input and output has a separate LED indicator for easy status reading.
The unit is managed and controlled through simple Windows software, Telnet or a serial console program such as Hyperterm via the supplied serial lead.
The Rhio10 remote I/O manager allows simple or complex control, data acquisition or remote monitoring tasks to be carried out over a network with a minimum of fuss and hassle.
Applications include automated machine monitoring, industrial instrumentation, discrete control, security and access control and distributed data acquisition systems.
