The JBC DI 3000 digital control unit is a hybrid between a single and a dual station in that two soldering tools can be connected to it, one working at operating temperature while the other is on standby in its stand ready for instant use.

Once the first tool has been placed back in its stand it takes about a second for the standby tool to reach operating temperature.

The control unit has been developed for use with the Advanced range of soldering irons that are said to provide an 80% performance improvement over conventional tools.

Whereas a conventional station can take between 10 and 90s to reach 350C, some Advanced stations can reach this temperature in only 2s.

This is achieved by using a compact, high-power, small-mass cartridge.

Tests have shown that the time taken to perform a series of five solder joints with any Advanced range station was only 8s with a temperature drop of just 30C, but a conventional system took twice this time, 16s, and suffered a temperature drop of 70C.
