Kane Computing claims that its Predator PCMCIA JTAG emulator was used by Texas Instruments to communicate with the first TMS320C6416 DSPs to come out of its fab, and it all worked first time.
The card accepts off-the-shelf processor modules with Texas Instruments C67xx DSPs, 16bit audio and speech I/O modules, and custom modules, for example H.110 or MVIP subset.
The modular approach used by the SigC67xx-PC/104 card is particularly suited to providing a scalable solution for defence electronics, telecom and internet equipment applications that require parallel DSP processing, for example, where channel capacity has to be highly configurable.
The SigC67xx-PC/104 includes a Dallas Semiconductor DS2155 device with integrated frame/transceiver that provides a T1/E1 interface available on a 10-pin header at the board edge.

Convertor turns video to digital
New from Kane Computing, the PixeLink PL-A544 FireWire video convertor captures and converts NTSC/Pal video into digital images.
Up to 24 data streams and eight signalling streams can be processed by any combination of DSPs.
Command, control and status information is available to the host interface, and all TDM data is routed to the DSP module sites, via the programmable PLC switch matrix.
For non-telecomms applications the T1/E1 interface does not need to be populated and the board cost is reduced.
The SigC67xx-PC/104 board contains a 10/100Mbit/s Ethernet controller with PHY signals available on a header at the board edge.
For VoIP applications, Packet data may be output to the network from DSPs after speech codec, RTP, and jitter processing.
The Ethernet controller is accessible from both host and DSPs.
Other complementary products include the SigSD8 SODIMM audio module, which provides a small-form-factor eight-channel 16bit sigma-delta analogue I/O solution compatible with SigC54xx and SigC67xx DSP processor modules.
Analogue I/O data can be routed directly to multiple DSP devices via high-speed TDM serial bit-stream, thus increasing system performance and efficiency.
The modular approach also creates flexibility in configuring the number of analogue I/O channels and DSP devices, as well as allowing product upgrades and configurations for a variable number of voice or audio channels.
Applications using the SigSD8 module include basestation processing, speech, audio, and acoustic algorithm processing, VoIP (voice over Internet protocol) networking functions, VoDSL (voice over DSL), Internet routing, multiple-channel speech or audio code/decode (eg G.711, G.723, G729A or MELP speech compression and MP3 audio compression), modem banks, and speech recognition.
