Video acquisition cards get UK reseller

A Kane Computing product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Apr 19, 2007

The Aexeon and Nexeon ranges of intelligent PCI or PCI Express video acquisition boards from dPict Imaging will be sold in the UK by Kane Computing.

Kane Computing has been selected by dPict Imaging to distribute its Aexeon and Nexeon ranges of intelligent PCI or PCI Express video acquisition boards in the UK.

All of the dPict products have a powerful onboard Texas Instruments DM642 video processor and 64Mbyte SDRAM frame buffer to provide maximum flexibility in handling challenging preprocessing needs, such as smooth interpolated scaling, pixel formatting, interrupt support, hardware overlay, real-time video processing and video output functionality.

The Aexeon range of intelligent video-acquisition boards includes the basic Aexeon, a low-cost bus-mastering analogue capture card, accepting multiple composite, S-Video or Composite video inputs in both PAL and NTSC formats and digitises in both square pixels and CCIR-601 resolutions.

The Aexeon Quattro supports four independent full-resolution video channels capable of simultaneous streaming of real-time video to system memory or display.

As well as scaling, pixel formatting, hardware overlay, etc the onboard video processor also provides real-time JPEG video compression.

The Nexeon range includes the Nexeon CL a low cost CameraLink acquisition board for area or line scan cameras up to 80MHz.

The onboard video processor supports Bayer Filter cameras without the use of additional software applications or host usage.

External camera control is provided including an RS-232 interface, a switched 12V power output and programmable I/O triggering.

The Nexeon HD the latest product from dPict Imaging provides high definition video acquisition of analogue or digital video inputs and supports analogue RGB, YCrCb component, S-Video and composite as well as digital DVI/HDMI inputs.

Nexeon HD supports VGA display resolutions up to 1024 x 1024 at 75Hz, as well as HDTV inputs up to 1080i.

Video can be accepted in either analogue or digital through DVI or HDMI connectors.

With acquisition rates up to 150MHz, Nexeon HD is one of the most versatile frame grabbers on the market.

nVision is a fully integrated device for remote video streaming over Ethernet.

Its compact size allows it to be installed anywhere a network connection exists.

Setup is easy with nVision's configuration tools.

nVision accepts RGB or YCrCb component, S-Video, or Composite video inputs from NTSC or PAL video sources.

nVision's 10bit video digitisation assures a high-quality image.

Video streaming is fully configurable.

Transfer can be in uncompressed, motion JPEG, or in programmable dual streaming mode.

Video can be digitised up to 720 x 480 and scaled to any arbitrary size.

For analogue video monitors, nVision can decode networked digital video streams and convert the digital video for output on it's video output port.

A programmable overlay can be applied to the output video for on-screen display.

nVision contains extensive camera and I/O control to make application development simple.

By making use of an integrated microcontroller and 64 MB frame buffer, nVision provides reliable image transfer to prevent dropped images.

All of the dPict products are supported by dVeloper a comprehensive software developers kit, allowing for easy porting to new hardware.

dVeloper is royalty free and runs under Windows 2000 and XP operating systems.

Source-code samples and complete documentation are included in Visual C, C++ and Visual Basic .NET to provide insight to various hardware functions.

Samples include video-in-a-window, overlay, video buffering, camera control and more.

Richard White, Managing Director of KCL, says: "I am very excited to be working with dPict to sell their products in the UK, as they meet an increasing demand for intelligent image capture cards from our customers and incorporate Texas Instruments DSPs that we, as a TI Third Party Network Member, have a lot of experience with".
