Compact Packet Switching Backplanes
The PS4900 Series of Compact Packet Switching Backplanes (cPSB) from Kaparel support Switched Ethernet, as defined by the PICMG 2.16 draft specification and offer high capacity CompactPCI.
Jacques Houde, Director of Engineering for Kaparel, who sits on the PICMG 2.17 subcommittee stated, "The StarGen solution is attractive to the market in allowing customers to utilize their legacy hardware and software while getting the high availability benefit of a switch fabric design".
The StarFabric technology benefits vendors of carrier and enterprise communication platforms for next generation voice, data, and video networks.
Early adopters include companies building open standards-based access/edge equipment such as media over packet gateways, DLSMs, convergence switches, broadband access concentrators, wireless base stations, cable headend systems, edge routers and remote access platforms.
StarFabric technology provides a dramatic increase in equipment performance, reliability and quality of service, while retaining existing standards-based hardware and software investments.
Stephen Christo, Marketing Manager for StarGen said, "We are please to work with Kaparel in introducing StafFabric solutions to the market at Bus and Board.

StarFabric is one of the several adaptive switch fabric solutions being demonstrated at Bus and Board, providing the telecommunications industry with high capacity and high availability solutions.
