Kenda Electronic Systems of Southampton has designed and developed six ruggedised computer systems for installation in Royal Navy submarines.

Following the award of a contract worth in excess of GBP 0.5 million by Thales Underwater Systems, Kenda Electronic Systems of Southampton has designed and developed six ruggedised computer systems for installation in Royal Navy submarines The computers will carry out monitoring and recording of messages on the submarines' fibre-optic highway, and commissioning of the systems is now nearing completion

Kenda won the contract in the face of competition from several major defence contractors and was chosen because of its long experience in the development of special computer systems, its successful track record in MoD projects and its ability to offer the most cost-effective solution.
