New EMC circular backshells from KEC use a re-workable band clamp device that, up to now, has only been used in general engineering and not for screen termination of high quality, professional electronic components.

By combining the band clamp with traditional EMC techniques, KEC has produced a low cost EMC backshell that is highly suitable for many commercial applications but with the EMC performance required for more demanding markets such as defence and aerospace.

Part of the recently announced KC 2000 series, both the KC 2700 and KC 2800 use the band clamp for overall screening while the KC 2800 also provides individual screening using the patented KEC method of an interwoven braid.

The band clamp is applied with a pair of special but simple and low cost hand operated pliers.

The same tool quickly releases the clamp for the connector to be reworked.

This method is suitable for small to medium batch production and ideal for development applications and prototype work.
