Modules extend range of multimeter systems

A Keithley Instruments product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Nov 2, 2001

Keithley Instruments has added three new modules and three mass termination kits to its two-slot Model 2700 multimeter/data acquisition system and five-slot Model 2750 multimeter/switch system.

Keithley Instruments has added three new modules and three mass termination kits to its two-slot Model 2700 multimeter/data acquisition system and five-slot Model 2750 multimeter/switch system.

When the new plug-in modules and connector kits are used with the 14 digital multimeter functions of the Series 2700 mainframes, users have unmatched flexibility and testing efficiency for a wide range of industries and applications.

Typical production test applications include electronic components, subassemblies and systems; accelerated stress testing, including HALT/HASS, ESS, and burn-in; process monitoring and control; and precision low ohms measurements.

The new modules are designed for mass termination with the new connector kits and include: the Model 7701, 1x32 differential multiplexer; the Model 7707, 1x10 differential multiplexer with 32 channels of digital I/O; the Model 7709, 6x8 switching matrix with internal DMM connection; the Model 7788, 50-pin D-shell connector kit; the Model 7789, 50- /25-pin D-shell connector kit; and the Model 7790, 50-/25-pin IDC connector kit.

With the new modules, Keithley now offers nine different analogue and digital I/O plug-in cards that can be installed in the expansion slots of the Series 2700 mainframes.

Users can create test systems with a combination of channel count, cost per channel, and system performance superior to any other single-box measurement system.

The plug-in modules provide channel counts from 20 to 400 (single-ended), can apply a stimulus to devices under test (DUTs), route signals, control system components, and make precision measurements.

Robust digital I/O on the modules can be used for triggering, handshaking with other automation equipment, and alarm limit outputs.

Scan rates of more than 200 channels/s (up to 2500 readings/s) are available.

The new connector kits save installation and maintenance costs by allowing fast, mass terminations to multiplexer modules with a ribbon cable.

The resulting test and measurement systems provide precision measurement and control in a single, tightly integrated enclosure for either rack mounting or benchtop use.

The new plug-in modules for Series 27xx mainframes are available from stock.
