Keithley Instruments has acquired Lyocom, a private company located in Richfield, Ohio.

Terms were not disclosed.

Lyocom develops and sells software algorithms used for generating and analysing complex digital waveforms.

Keithley currently offers a broad suite of measurement capabilities for developers and manufacturers of wireless devices and products, so this technology extends Keithley's solutions to include WiMAX, MIMO (multiple input multiple output), and WLAN test applications.

This measurement technology will be used with Keithley's Model 2800 Series RF vector signal analysers and Model 2900 series vector signal generators.

These products combine complex signal measurement capabilities with high performance and unprecedented ease of use.

The Models 2800 and 2900 Series instruments offer significant testing advantages in the areas of wireless devices, wireless transceiver modules and RF components.

By providing fast frequency tuning, rapid attenuator switching and high speed digital signal processing, test time is reduced, also reducing the overall costs associated with testing.

Both the Models 2800 and 2900 Series instruments use Keithley's innovative next-generation flexible software-defined radio (SDR) architecture to provide extremely fast measurement speed and which allows it to adapt quickly to the changing test requirements of the wireless communications market without expensive hardware upgrades.

"Our Models 2800 and 2900 Series RF instruments are making significant inroads with customers in a variety of applications", says Mark Hoersten, Keithley Vice President, Business Management.

"Adding this technology to our existing RF measurement capability makes our RF offering an even more powerful solution for customers who need to test WiMAX, MIMO and WLAN devices", Hoersten concludes.
