The standard termination for Aximax and Goldmax products is now 100% matte tin with a nickel barrier over steel.
This applies to all series within these two product families except for C350s, which will convert on 14th March 2005.
Additionally, Kemet has qualified a completely lead-free design for these products that also eliminates the use of lead-bearing solder to make the internal termination connection.
This proactive initiative positions Kemet to deliver fully RoHS-compliant products to the marketplace before the competition.
"Kemet's expeditious response to industry demand for lead-free standard terminations reiterates our commitment to be 'easy-to-buy-from' while providing the highest degrees of quality, delivery and service", said James McClintock, Kemet's President.
"By eliminating lead from these product lines, we are not only supporting our customers' requirements but we are also making a conscious effort to comply with relevant environmental regulations".
The industry's lead-free initiative is being driven by environmental legislation, such as the End-of-Life Vehicle (ELV), Restriction on Hazardous Substances (RoHS), and Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directives.
