Toggle switches protect against static
discharge
Designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment from damage by ESD, the EST and FT families of toggle switches are ideal for safety critical instrumentation and ESD-sensitive applications.

Tact switches are sealed to IP67
Sealed tact switches provide excellent tactile feedback and offer a long operational life of at least one million cycles.
Pushbutton switches are sealed on the panel
Sealed switches will interest manufacturers of industrial control and automation systems as well as those building medical products.
Rated at 20V DC, 0.4VA, these single-pole/double-throw (SPDT) switches may be hand or auto-soldered and may be PCB or panel mounted.
Life expectancy is a minimum of 100,000 operations, contact resistance is less than 10mohm, insulation resistance is greater than 1000Mohm and the dielectric strength is rated at 1000V at 50Hz for 1min.
The microminiature FT family of toggle switches are for mounting on board-level products where they will be used for setup and configuring of equipment.
Contacts are rated at 28V DC, 0.4VA, and are available as single-pole/double-throw (SPDT) and double-pole/double-throw (DPDT).
A number of switching options may be specified, for example latching, momentary, on/on, on/off/on and more.
These switches are for PCB mounting and auto-soldering.
Life expectancy is a minimum of 30,000 operations, contact resistance is less than 100mohm, insulation resistance is greater than 500Mohm and the dielectric strength is rated at 250V at 50Hz for 1min.
These ESD proofed designs are able to withstand greater than 10kV between lever and terminals for medical and similar safety critical applications as well as to protect digital circuitry from operator damage.
Both ranges of toggle switches are made from UL approved materials and are washable.
Terry Moss, General Sales Manager for Knitter-Switch UK comments: "It's well known that board level computer products are very sensitive to ESD damage from handling, it's equally possible to introduce high voltages from human interfaces, such as switches.
Our ESD-proofed microminiature switches offer a high degree of protection from this invisible hazard.
Equally, life critical medical equipment and sensitive instrumentation require protection from ESD hazards.
Our ranges of ESD-proofed toggle switches offer simple and effective protection".
