Because the switch incorporates a silicone dome, there is no audible click during operation but there is excellent tactile feedback.

Knitter Switch has released a tact switch series that suits medical systems, consumer electronics and the automotive sector TSS 650 switches are small, surface-mount tact switches that provide an extra long travel of 1.3mm, compared to the industry "norm" of just 0.25mm

Because the switch incorporates a silicone dome, there is no audible click during operation but there is excellent tactile feedback.

This can be very useful in broadcast and medical environments.

The new switch has a body which measures 6 x 6mm with a height off the board of 5mm.

Designed to be lead-free reflow solderable at up to 260C, the use of J hooks saves further board space.

The operating temperature range is from -40 to +85C.

The switches have a mechanical life of at least 30000 cycles, contact ratings of 12V DC, 50mA and a low-contact resistance of 100mohm.

Applications include industrial front panels, home entertainment products, medical systems and automotive electronics.
