Compact PCI board aims for next-generation servers

The cPCI-DT64 is a high performance CompactPCI board that features dual Gigabit Ethernet.
The processor board is aimed at developers who are building next generation high-density servers for various bandwidth intensive applications.
The cPCI-DT64 powers Kontron's packet switched backplane systems including the XL-VHDS, a high-end, carrier-class PICMG 2.16 compliant platform and the XL-PSB, a PICMG 2.16-compliant midrange platform.
"The low voltage Intel Pentium III processors will allow high-density designs to be realised in a single slot (4HP) CompactPCI form factor", stated Joe Jensen, general manager of the Embedded Intel Architecture Division.
"For end users, this can yield significant processing power savings while conserving valuable server real estate".
Processor configurations on the cPCI-DT64 will include the options of two future low voltage Intel Pentium III processors or dual Intel Pentium III processors at 1.26GHz (other processor speeds available on request).
The board also features a 133MHz front side bus, 64bit/66MHz PCIbus interface, up to 4Gbyte of registered PC133 SDRAM, a 64bit/66MHz PMC expansion slot using PIM connectivity, CompactFlash module support and IPMI support.
"Having multiple Intel processor configurations available will make the cPCI-DT64 a powerful and versatile solution", stated Jan-Philippe De Broeck, CompactPCI product manager at Kontron.
"The cPCI-DT64 is designed for mission-critical communications applications such as core routers, wireless base stations, media and VoIP gateways, as well as many industrial and military applications".
The cPCI-DT64 is fully PICMG 2.16 compliant for Ethernet on the backplane (CompactPCI packet-switch backplane), and onboard are two copper Gigabit Ethernet ports.
The cPCI-DT64 is available in dual-slot (8HP) or single-slot (4HP) formats.
It comes with front or rear I/O configuration and is configurable as either a system processor or a peripheral processor board.
