CompactPCI I/O board takes 16 in and out

Kontron's new CP383 module is an electrically isolated 16 channel digital input and 16 channel digital output board for 3U CompactPCI systems.

Kontron's new CP383 module is an electrically isolated 16 channel digital input and 16 channel digital output board for 3U CompactPCI systems The E2 version of the board can be operated in the extended temperature range of -40 to +85C

The CP383 provides a sophisticated range of features.

The module can be configured as required for all popular digital sensor and actuator voltages and it includes essential protection features.

The CP383 can be supplied preconfigured as a plug and play module on request.

The optional preconfiguration involves application-specific programming of: debouncing (reduction of the maximum impulse rate); input capture and compare; and input event detection.

The sophisticated APIs allow easy integration of the module with an application, as it is only necessary to access one node to be able to access all other nodes in the system.

Kontron Modular Computers provides extensive software support for the CP383, which covers all popular operating systems, such as Windows XP, Windows NT, Windows 2000, VxWorks and Linux.

The 16 input channels of the CP383 are designed for both low (-3 to +5V) and high (+11 to +30V) input voltages, where each channel is independently controlled.

The maximum input current is 5mA and the input resistance ranges from 1.5 to 6kohm for an input voltage of 30V.

Input protection (ESD) is up to 8kV.

Each of the 16 output channels has an output voltage range of 9.5 to 35V and can deliver a maximum output current of 500mA per channel.

The board features a switch-on/switch-off delay of 20us.

Low voltage protection (upper threshold: 9.5V) and an overload protection of up to 1.2A also are included.

The digital I/O card is equipped to satisfy the increased safety demands of industrial applications by including reverse polarity and overtemperature protection, with shutdown occurring at 150C.

The protective insulation is up to 2kV. Request a free brochure from Kontron UK ...
