Motherboard keeps power consumption low
With a combined thermal design power of less than 5W for the processor and chipset the Kontron KTUS15/mITX motherboard is suitable for solar/battery powered applications.
Embedded PC suits avionics applications
The Kontron MEC-PPC-AV1 modular embedded computer offers a large range of I/Os such as Ethernet, general purpose I/Os, serial lines and MIL-STD-1553 links.
This applies to all SBCs and COMs based on VIA Eden processors at 300, 400 and 800MHz and 1GHz.
The company's commitment even includes customers who previously bought assemblies from competing suppliers.
For example, a leading Asian manufacturer will only take orders for the discontinued VIA processors until 31st March 2006 and will not deliver after the end of September 2006.
This strengthens Kontron's position as a reliable partner offering long-term availability embedded computer technology, independent of the processor manufacturers.
"Our goal is to make our customers ever more independent of the processor suppliers, even if this requires a large cash investment", says Dirk Finstel, CTO of the Embedded Modules Division.
In this way, customers receive the highest availability and thus the security that an investment is safeguarded over the long term.
The system solutions hardest hit by the VIA discontinuation are mostly those with cost-sensitive designs, due to the economical pricing of their processors.
They would be particularly affected, because redesigns have a significantly greater effect on unit prices than in higher-priced solutions, where the cost allocation has a much smaller%age influence on the price.
Kontron's extended lifetime support includes single-board computers based on PC/104 and JRex 3.5in, ETX computers-on-modules, and PISA slot assemblies, as well as the ePanel-C3 flat panel CPU board. Request a free brochure from Kontron UK ...
