Kontron has published its 2008 product guide, a 96-page brochure that provides an up-to-date and comprehensive overview of all the relevant form factors in embedded computer technology as well as numerous system platforms.
The 2008 product guide is conveniently divided into 18 categories, with 76 different board level and system solutions in various processor versions up to the latest multicore technology.
There are updates to 32 product categories (42% of the entire product line).
Highlights include the new nanoETXexpress computer-on-module that packs low power processing performance, high end graphics, PCI Express and Serial ATA onto a credit card footprint of just 55 x 84mm as well as the latest open modular AdvancedTCA platforms and microTCA/AdvancedMC systems that break through traditional price/performance barriers.
Another first is the JRexplus 3.5in embedded single board computer that now boasts a standardised PC/104-plus expansion slot for connecting PC/104-plus I/O boards.
About one-third of all the long-term availability solutions are standard embedded systems such as, for example, HMIs, industrial servers and rugged computers which are offered with industry and country specific certifications.
In terms of boards, in addition to the 24 SBC and COM form factors there are a large number of expansion components such as I/O cards and flat panel adapters that make it easy for system developers to configure individual system solutions from the standard portfolio.
In addition to Kontron's product portfolio - which ranges from modules and boards to systems and software and includes application-ready platforms based on embedded computer technology - current application examples illustrate the use of standard and custom products in important market segments for embedded and rugged computer technology.
