Independent test laboratory KTL can now offer a fully managed DECT test solution.

As part of the service KTL can offer a detailed DECT compliance project plan which details the test procedures required by the world's major markets, and the steps necessary to achieve compliance.

KTL now offers a one-stop-shop approach to achieving DECT compliance for products in the US and Europe.

The service also greatly reduces the effort involved in achieving market access for Asia and the Far East.

Explains Paul Russell, KTL's Business Development Manager: "There is no other accredited, UK test house offering this service.

By using our one-stop approach, developers of DECT modules and end-products such as cordless telephones and PBX equipment can get to market much faster and cheaper than before, when they had to work with three or four test houses.

By working with a single point of contact, the process of preparing test documentation is simplified, considerably reducing the burden on the customer and improving time to market.

KTL manages all the test requirements required to demonstrate compliance with the EU's Radio and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment Directive.

The service also covers the nonregulatory requirements for acoustic (TBR10), protocol (TBR22) and specific absorption rate testing.

Customers gain compliance with respect to three regulatory areas: safety (EN60950-1/IEC60950-1), EMC (EN301 489-6) and radio (TBR6, now superseded by EN301 406).

Conventionally, the effort to demonstrate compliance in these areas, working with a collection of separate test laboratories, can take 6 to 8 weeks.

KTL can achieve the same result in 2 to 4 weeks.
