Test services enable CPE manufacturers to ensure that their products meet TR-069 remote access standards and other related technical reports.

KTL now offers testing services for products using the DSL Forum's CPE (customer premises equipment) WAN Management Protocol, enabling CPE manufacturers to ensure that their products meet TR-069 remote access standards and other related technical reports Remote access for devices such as DSL modems and IPTV set-top boxes can greatly reduce the number of in-person calls a service provider has to make

"Now we can test CPE remote manageability to TR-069 guidelines in addition to equipment performance to the TR-067 standard, greatly expanding our test offerings for the telecommunications industry", says Rolf Bienert, Vice President of KTL North America.

"We are the only third-party test house in North America to offer TR-069 interoperability testing, enabling us to work with CPE manufacturers to ensure their existing products and those in development can implement remote management protocols and follow market trends".

"After the implementation of WT-100 (ADSL2+) and VDSL2 testing, this is a very important step forward for us".

KTL's new TR-069 testing uses Netopia's NBBS Service Management Platform, which Netopia sells direct to service providers.

The NBBS software allows service providers to remotely activate and manage CPE devices like DSL gateways.

KTL's testing services simulate real-world applications and workloads to test CPE compatibility with TR-069.

"We are pleased that KTL is using our NBBS platform to enable their TR-069 qualification service", says Dr Geng Lin, Netopia's Vice President, Application and Server Software Engineering.

"Service providers worldwide recognise the significant benefits of being able to remotely manage CPE on their network".

"They expect their CPE suppliers to support that requirement".

"The fact that KTL is offering independent testing services using NBBS, a true product caliber Auto Configuration Server (ACS) system, should give those CPE vendors confidence that their products can interoperate in a TR-069 world".
