Running on a PC, VInstrumentation from Kyle Data Services provides a complete low-cost real-time-display data-acquisition and control system.

Virtual instrumentation is provided by the combination of VInstrument software and VInterface hardware.

VInterface provides eight channels of data acquisition (to +/-10V) with sampling rates up to 10ksample/s, two control channels (+/-5V), eight logic inputs and eight logic outputs.

All I/O connections are via 4mm sockets.

Systems can be stimulated with the two-channel arbitrary waveform generator and the results displayed and logged using the eight-channel oscilloscope/chart recorder which can display results in engineering units.

The logic I/O provides event recording and logic analyser functions.

VInstrument software also works with the VIPS pods I/O system.

The VInstrumentation system is designed for teaching and research laboratories where the experimental setup can change on a minute-to-minute basis.

Experimental setups can be saved so that experiments can easily be repeated.

Additional application packages are also available.

VInstrumentation Logging System (VILS) provides advanced datalogging with features such as logging by time, at time or on alarm.

Logging can be single shot or can be repeated.

VInstrumentation Control Laboratory (VICL) uses the hardware/software combination to allow processes to be controlled.

The control test signal can be generated, the output measured and the control action calculated to drive real plant.

All the controller signals - input, output, error, drive etc - are shown on the real-time chart display.

VICL can be used for open-loop system testing and bang-bang, proportional only, proportional plus velocity feedback and PID control.

The complete system is easy to use in a teaching environment using real or simulated plant.
