The LDM-10 is a highly stable, easy to use laser.

The LDM-10 is a highly stable, easy to use laser The unit includes a high quality thermoelectric cooler and internal fan for maintaining the laser diode at a fixed temperature, even in demanding temperature environments

This along with using high quality antireflective coated optics and high speed modulation ensures that mode hopping is practically eliminated.

The LDM-10 can be set for a CW output, internal 155MHz square wave modulation, or with external 10kHz burst mode.

By modulating the laser at high frequencies, it is possible to reduce mode hopping.

When the laser is initially switched on, it has a multimode output.

As intensity increases, a single mode uses up the gain medium and suppresses the other modes.

Changes in power or temperature can cause a single mode to hop to another mode.

This does not occur with a multimode output.

Therefore, to achieve maximum stability, the laser is modulated at 155MHz, to keep its output in multimode.

An external TTL 10kHz signal can be applied to give bursts of CW or 155MHz pulses.

The LDM-10 incorporates a series of monitors so the user can observe the operating status of the unit.

The outputs of these monitors can either be viewed on a PC via an RS232 connection, or an analogue output.

The monitor outputs are also used to alert the internal microprocessor to automatically shut the module down if it reaches a preset temperature or laser drive current.

This along with the inbuilt ESD and slow start protection prevents the laser from being damaged during operation.

A range of different beam shaping optics is available with the LDM-10.

Anamorphic prisms can be mounted inside the LDM-10 to circularise the output beam.

Also, line generating optics can be used to produce a laser line of virtually any length.
