The Lantronix XPort Architect with Evolution networking operating system was awarded the EDN Innovation of the Year award at the Embedded Systems Conference in San Jose.

The Lantronix XPort Architect (AR) with Evolution networking operating system (NOS) was awarded the EDN Innovation of the Year award at the Embedded Systems Conference in San Jose Selected as the most innovative embedded system in 2005, XPort AR is an embedded processor module that goes beyond simple network connectivity and provides manufacturers an unprecedented level of device intelligence to the network

This exclusive award specifically honours outstanding engineering innovation and invention in electronic products and technologies.

Lantronix XPort AR was one of hundreds of products considered and was chosen as the winner by the EDN Editorial Advisory Board, EDN Editors and readers.

Lantronix XPort AR enables manufacturers to quickly and easily build networking and web server capabilities into embedded devices and machines, enabling them to be easily and securely integrated into an enterprise data network.

Running Lantronix Evolution NOS, XPort AR is the first embedded device networking solution to incorporate standards-complaint information transport protocols including XML and RSS and security protocols SSH and SSL.

In addition, XPort AR is fully IEEE802.3af power over Ethernet (PoE) compliant for pass-through PoE capability and provides "Cisco like" command line interface (CLI) capabilities to simplify remote or local configuration.

"We designed XPort AR to give our customers additional features such as increased network security, management and embedded intelligence capabilities beyond anything else currently on the market", said Marc Nussbaum, CEO of Lantronix.

"We are very pleased to have won this prestigious award from EDN and its readers, who are on the front lines of developing the next-generation of consumer and commercial devices and applications that will utilise M2M technology solutions, such as the XPort AR.

This award further validates Lantronix reputation for market-driven design innovation and the need for a new era of intelligent device networking".
