Programmable logic meets automotive
standard
Automotive programmable logic devices have been characterised and qualified to meet the certification requirements of the AEC-Q100 standard as defined by the Automotive Electronics Council.
Automotive versions of MachXO crossover programmable logic devices and ispMACH 4000V CPLD devices have been characterised and qualified to meet the certification requirements of the AEC-Q100 standard as defined by the Automotive Electronics Council (AEC) Designated the LA-MachXO and LA-ispMACH 4000V product families, these are the first programmable Lattice Automotive, or LA, devices

Lattice Semiconductor has added a new member to its ispPAC programmable analogue device family.
Production quantities of the new devices will be available this quarter, and Lattice can provide standard PPAP (production part approval process) documentation to automotive customers requiring it.
Further emphasising its focus on the automotive market, Lattice is aggressively seeking ISO/TS16949 quality systems certification by year end, and is taking the necessary steps to join the Technical Committee of the AEC as an associate member.
The AEC-Q100 is defined by the AEC as a "Stress test for qualification for integrated circuits".

Bigger CPLDs come onstream
Lattice Semiconductor has announced the immediate availability of the first device in its ispMACH 5000VG SuperBIG CPLD family, the 1024-macrocell ispMACH 51024VG.
The AEC-Q100 standard also includes customer specific requirements (CSR).
ISO/TS16949 is an international standards automotive quality systems technical specification.
Electronic system suppliers to the automotive market increasingly require that semiconductor suppliers provide products compliant to the AEC-Q100 standard and ISO/TS16949 certification of their quality systems.
LA-MachXO crossover programmable logic devices support applications that traditionally have been addressed either by high density CPLDs (complex programmable logic devices) or low capacity FPGAs, but with a more comprehensive and cost-effective architecture and technology.
The automotive LA-MachXO family includes 256, 640, 1200 and 2280 LUT devices, with user I/O counts ranging from 78 to 271 I/O, and features such as on-chip memory and PLLs in the larger devices.
The LA-ispMACH 4000V CPLD automotive family offers low power and excellent performance and includes three devices with densities ranging from 32 to 128 macrocells and user I/Os ranging from 30 to 96.
The LA-ispMACH 4000V CPLDs are a flexible, low cost alternative to ASICs in automotive design.
"Lattice has provided both commercial and industrial CPLD products to the automotive industry for several years", said Stan Kopec, Corporate Vice President of Marketing.
"The automotive market is one of the fastest growing areas for programmable logic devices".
"FPGAs and CPLDs are finding broad use in automotive performance, safety and infotainment applications".
"The launch of our new Lattice Automotive products, as well as our initiative to qualify for ISO/TS16949 certification, is a measure of our ongoing and expanding commitment to serve our customers in the automotive industry", Kopec concluded.
Prices for the LA-MachXO256 automotive devices start at $1.95 in 100,000 piece quantities.
Prices for the LA-ispMACH 4032V start at $.95 in 100,000 piece quantities.
These automotive grade devices are available now for orders in popular lead-free (Pb-free) TQFP and fine-pitch thin BGA packages.
