Programmable logic devices pass automotive test

A Lattice Semiconductor UK product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Oct 10, 2006

Automotive versions of ispMACH 4000Z CPLDs have been characterised and qualified to meet the certification requirements of the AEC-Q100 standard.

Automotive versions of ispMACH 4000Z CPLDs (complex programmable logic devices) have been characterised and qualified to meet the certification requirements of the AEC-Q100 standard as defined by the Automotive Electronics Council (AEC).

Designated the LA-ispMACH 4000Z CPLD family, these Lattice automotive, or LA, devices join the previously announced LA-MachXO crossover programmable logic devices and LA-ispMACH 4000V CPLDs in Lattice's growing automotive product portfolio.

Production quantities of the new devices will be available in Q4 2006, and Lattice can provide standard PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation to automotive customers requiring it.

"The automotive market's appetite for programmable logic solutions continues to increase rapidly", said Stan Kopec, Corporate Vice President of Marketing.

"Lattice has provided both commercial and industrial programmable logic products to the automotive industry for many years, and our programmable devices are used in many applications, ranging from video camera systems and occupant safety to telematics and digital radio".

"The In-System Programmable LA-ispMACH 4000Z devices, with their ultra low power requirements, are uniquely suited for 'always-on' automotive systems, and can be reprogrammed in the vehicle (in-system) for easy feature upgrades".

"Our Lattice automotive products, and our initiative to certify our quality systems consistent with ISO/TS16949, demonstrate our ongoing and expanding commitment to serve our customers in the automotive industry", Kopec concluded.

The LA-ispMACH 4000Z CPLD automotive family offers the industry's lowest power consumption (standby current as low as 10uA), the lowest cost, the smallest packages and industry-leading performance.

The LA-ispMACH 4000Z family includes three devices with densities of 32, 64 and 128 macrocells.

The LA-ispMACH 4000Z CPLDs are live at power-up ("instant on") and are a flexible, low cost alternative to ASICs in automotive design.

Prices for the LA-ispMACH 4032Z begin at US $0.95 in 100,000 piece quantities.

These automotive grade devices are available now for orders in popular lead-free (Pb-free) TQFP packages.
