Lattice Semiconductor has achieved certification of its quality systems to Automotive Industry Quality Standard ISO/TS 16949.

Lattice Semiconductor has achieved certification of its quality systems to Automotive Industry Quality Standard ISO/TS 16949 The certification is formal recognition that Lattice provides its automotive customers with programmable devices that meet rigorous standards for quality and reliability

Lattice has previously satisfied the stringent requirements of additional quality standards, including ISO 9001 and MIL-PRF-38535.

"Lattice has provided both commercial and industrial programmable logic products to the automotive industry for many years and AEC-Q100 qualified devices for the past year," said Stan Kopec, Lattice corporate vice president of marketing.

"Our programmable devices are used in a growing number of applications, including Video Camera Systems, Telematics and Digital Radio".

"The ISO/TS-16949 certification of our quality systems marks yet another milestone in our expanding commitment to serve the automotive design industry, which includes dedicated automotive support personnel".

"Our commitment to deliver "More of the Best" automotive design solutions will continue in 2007 with new AEC-Q100 qualified Power Manager and SRAM and Flash FPGA families, together with additional Intellectual Property cores targeted to the automotive industry," Kopec concluded.

The ISO/TS 16949 was jointly developed by International Automotive Task Force (IATF) members and submitted to the International organisation for standardisation (ISO) for approval and publication on the 1 March2002.

The document is a common automotive quality system requirements catalog based on ISO 9001:2000, AVSQ (Italian), EAQF (French), QS-9000 (U.S.) and VDA6.1 (German) automotive catalogs.

This document, coupled with customer-specific requirements, defines quality system requirements for use in the automotive supply chain.

The IATF has developed a common registration scheme for supplier third-party registration to the ISO/TS 16949.

The registration scheme includes third-party auditor qualifications and common rules for consistent global registration.

Some of the benefits of the IATF registration scheme include: Improved product and process quality; Additional confidence for global sourcing; Reassignment of supplier resources to quality improvement; Common quality system approach in the supply chain for supplier/subcontractor development and consistency; Reduction in multiple third-party registrations IATF members include the following vehicle manufacturers: BMW, DaimlerChrysler, Fiat, Ford Motor Company, General Motors (including Opel Vauxhall), PSA Peugeot-Citroen, Renault SA, Volkswagen and their respective trade associations - AIAG (U.S.), ANFIA (Italy), FIEV (France), SMMT (U.K.) and VDA (Germany).
