The Trace32 debugger now supports the DSP/BIOS real-time operating system for Texas Instruments TMS320C55xx and OMAP processors.

The Trace32 debugger now supports the DSP/BIOS real-time operating system for Texas Instruments TMS320C55xx and OMAP processors.

This additional DSP/BIOS awareness is free for all existing Trace32 customers.

The DSP/BIOS awareness is able to visualise all RTOS objects.

It provides separate windows for the display of tasks, semaphores, mailboxes etc.

If the processor is capable of a dual-port access to the memory, these objects can be displayed nonintrusively, while the application is running in real time.

Trace32 also supports the usage of task related breakpoints.

As an example this means that in shared code a breakpoint can be set to only halt on an access by a specific task.

The ability to perform dynamic performance analysis is another feature of the awareness.

Trace32 periodically detects the tasks which are running and can analyse the usage on the target and display in various formats, including graphically.

All the features the Trace32 debugger provides for the DSP/BIOS RTOS are provided without any changes such as patches, hooks or additional instrumentation of the code to either the application or the kernel.

Trace32 has always had a philosophy of working on exactly the same application code as will be used in the finished product.

This is the only way to fully guarantee that the original application is tested and running correctly.
