Lauterbach now provides full support for the ST10F276 with its Trace32-Fire in-circuit emulator.
Debugger gains awareness of operating system
Microprocessor development tools from Lauterbach now provide kernel awareness for the Windows CE.net operating system from Microsoft.
Customers will have access to prebuilt configurations containing the appropriate board and debugger setup files.
To simplify software development, example programs and applications are included.
The partnership will guarantee the mutual compatibility of the Trace32 tools from Lauterbach with the HiCO.SH4 boards from Emtrion and also the EDOSK7760 board extended by Emtrion.
The Trace32 debug system communicates with the board via the JTAG connector.
Whenever possible the board also has the AUD trace port connector which if used with the Trace32 real-time trace module provides detailed program flow and analysis capability To provide immediate control, Emtrion delivers the boards with a boot manager already programmed into the Flash memory.
The debugger software includes prebuilt setup scripts to initialise the board for a debug session, minimising any startup problems.
The prebuilt example applications provide a real "plug-and-play" capability, allowing quick access to the main features of the debugger and the board.
To provide a quick start route for complex applications, Emtrion provides board support packages (BSPs) for Linux, Windows CE and QNX for the HiCO.SH4 and EDOSK7760 boards.
In the debug tools Lauterbach includes a sophisticated awareness for Linux, Windows CE and QNX as well as many other RTOS types.
The awareness provides visibility into the operating system objects (eg processes and threads) and several performance measurements.
The Trace32 debugger follows the MMU operation and allows simultaneous debugging of several processes, the drivers and the libraries.
Prebuilt example applications are available for these systems.
This level of integration between Emtrion and Lauterbach has been achieved by a permanent transfer of knowledge between the two companies.
This means that the customer can obtain support from either Lauterbach or Emtrion.
