Debuggers support NEC microcontroller families

A Lauterbach product story

Lauterbach Trace32 ICD and Trace32 PowerTools debuggers now support the NEC V850E and V850ES microcontroller families.

Lauterbach Trace32 ICD and Trace32 PowerTools debuggers now support the NEC V850E and V850ES microcontroller families.

Program flow information can also be recorded.

Lauterbach's Trace32 ICD and PowerDebug modules, which can be connected to the host computer over a parallel port, USB or Ethernet, allow fast access to all internal chip units, such as on-chip hardware breakpoints, peripheral equipment, registers, EEPROM and Flash memory, over the processor's N-Wire interface.

An unlimited number of software breakpoints in the RAM and Flash memories, debugging at HLL and assembler levels, programmable Flash memory, and support of the most important C and C++ compilers are standard features.

Trace32 PowerTrace can record the program flow and data of all V850E/ES processors with extended N-Wire interfaces in real time.

Both 4 and 16bit trace interfaces are supported.

The trace memory has a capacity of up to 512Mbyte and a maximum recording rate of 200MHz.

Each recording is given a time stamp with a resolution of 20ns.

Together with performance analysis, code coverage analysis, statistic functions, a timing diagram of trace data, and RTOS support, a context tracking system capable of reconstructing the content of local variables is also included.

Using an additional NBD real-time memory access box, certain variants of the V850E family can also access internal memory during run time.
