Debuggers support automotive processors
With a software update, TriCore debuggers that are already in use can easily be extended with the new members of this processor family.
Lauterbach's Trace32 ICD and Trace32 PowerTools debuggers now support members of the Infineon TriCore Audo Future processor family.
The TriCore Audo Future family of products is designed for embedded real-time automotive applications.
The products have a high-end microcontroller with integrated DSP functionality and can run at a maximum clock rate of 180MHz.
The reliable debugger for Infineon TriCore processors enables efficient and user-friendly debugging at high language levels (C/C++) over the chip-integrated debugging interface, OCDS.
Over this interface, the debugger can quickly access all internal chip units such as hardware breakpoints, peripheral units, register and Flash memory.
It connects to host computers running Windows or Linux over USB 2.0 or Ethernet 10/100 or 1000Mbit/s.
This also makes it possible to program internal Flash memory of up to 4Mbyte, as well as numerous flash units.
An unlimited number of software breakpoints in the RAM and Flash memory areas, debugging at the HLL and assembler levels and support of the most commonly used C und C++ compilers are standard features.
The peripheral control processor (PCP2) is displayed on a separate debugging interface.
With a software update, TriCore debuggers that are already in use can easily be extended with the new members of this processor family, including TC1736, TC1767 and TC1797, as well as the TC1767ED and TC1797ED emulation devices.
Debugging over the 2-wire or 3-wire DAP interface requires a new debug cable.
The cable and also support for the OCDS-L3 on-chip trace, will be available in Q2/2008.
