Serial link shows up in Vegas

A Lava Computer product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Oct 19, 2005

Lava Computer will showcase its recently launched DataTap-IP at Telecom 05 in Las Vegas.

Lava Computer will showcase its recently launched DataTap-IP on Booth 720 at Telecom 05 in Las Vegas, Nevada, on 25th and 26th October 2005.

Serving as a serial link between a PBX station and serial devices such as a printer, data logger, modem, or pole display, the Lava DataTap-IP can simultaneously grab data and perform routing functions.

This permits serial-based information to be ported to a call management station, and, at the same time send that same data to a serial printer - or other serial device - for local or remote data monitoring or collection.

In "sniffer mode" the device can bypass or selectively grab serial line data being tracked.

"Today's IP systems deliver advanced network communications that steadily improve operational efficiencies and productivity", says Lewis Fedyna, Senior Applications Engineer.

"Despite the progress made with high speed and bandwidth, however, very little has changed with interfaces".

"With a general decrease in the use of serial ports, there exists a loose link between bridging newer networking technologies to aging systems".

"That's where Lava comes in with its Ether-serial technology".
