Single-output Alpha delivers
concentrated power
Lambda has introduced a new single-output version of its 1000W Alpha.
The power requirements of applications such as image processing, disc arrays, high-end IT, telecomms, process control and industrial computing just keep on growing Although they want extra 'oomph' for these areas designers want it without any real-estate penalty so the pressure is on for no increase in the size of the power supply footprint

General-purpose power supplies boost efficiency
The LS50, LS75 and LS100 have 88 to 264V AC inputs, while the LS150 is switch-selectable for 115 or 230V AC, minimising the cost.
Power supplies cater for short-term peaks
Units provide a very cost and space efficient solution compared with oversizing conventional power supplies just to handle the peak current.
To meet these growing demands Lambda has introduced a new single-output version of its 1000W Alpha.
Three configurations are available, delivering an impressive choice of 40A at 24V, 83A at 12V or 200A at 5V.
The single output can be tailored to exactly match the user's output voltage requirement via a multi-turn potentiometer with an accuracy to within 1%.
The 24V unit, for example, can be adjusted over a wide 17.5 to 29V range.
Load regulation (0 to 100% loading) is less than 0.5% with remote sensing and better than 2% without remote sensing.
Overcurrent and overvoltage protection are fitted as standard.
With an input operating voltage range of 90 to 264V AC, 120 to 360V DC, and an input frequency of 47 to 63Hz, the Alpha 1000 has a start-up time of less than 0.5s.
Thermal protection is fitted as standard and input protection is in accordance with EN61000-4-2/4/5 level 3.
Cooling is provided by two 60mm fans.
The new power supply has built-in power factor correction and harmonic correction in accordance with EN61000-3-2.
A wide range of options is available including power good, AC fail, paralleling and power supply inhibit.
The MF primary option provides a 5V, 50mA auxiliary output, power fail indication and converter inhibit.
The PA secondary option provides paralleling and module good while the IN secondary option gives module inhibit and module good.
The single-output Alpha 1000 has an operating temperature range of -20 to +70C.
All Alphas come with a three year warranty. Request a free brochure from Lambda ...
