General-purpose power supplies boost efficiency
The LS50, LS75 and LS100 have 88 to 264V AC inputs, while the LS150 is switch-selectable for 115 or 230V AC, minimising the cost.
Power supplies cater for short-term peaks
Units provide a very cost and space efficient solution compared with oversizing conventional power supplies just to handle the peak current.
The additional space is required to house the company's telecomms rectifier power supply business following its transfer to Ilfracombe and quickly follows the opening of the new DC/DC convertor production line at the site.
In all, 40 new posts will have been created by mid 2002 at the Ilfracombe factory with the arrival of the rectifier operations.
Telecomms rectifiers are an important component of DC energy systems which power telecomms infrastructure equipment worldwide.
Speaking at the opening Dan Squiller, President of Power Components division of Invensys plc, Lambda's parent, said: "Recognising the manufacturing excellence of Lambda UK, two years ago Invensys made the decision to begin manufacturing high-technology DC/DC power modules in Ilfracombe.
With this success behind us, today I'm pleased to confirm the completion of the transfer to the Ilfracombe site of the production of telecomms rectifier power supplies for sale worldwide.
Lambda UK's expansion and increased stature within Invensys as a manufacturing centre of excellence is due to a creative and hardworking team of dedicated employees and is recognised by our GBP 1.8 million investment in the last 2 years".
Lambda's rectifier operations include the assembly of three ranges of rectifier power supplies: the 1500W LR, the 2000W WR and the 5.6kW LRFHI, together with BT LR48 and LR24 rectifier rack systems.
Associated rectifier components such as controllers and systems boards are also manufactured within a fully refurbished 8,000 square foot production area.
The new mezzanine area houses the production lines of Lambda's latest families of configurable AC-DC power supplies, Sirius and Vega.
In addition to the new mezzanine floor, a further 1500 square feet of production area has been created with structural improvements of former office space, giving a total of 7,500 square feet of additional space.
Architects and Clerk of Works for the expansion project were RGP Architects of Barnstaple.
Main contractors were Pearce Construction. Request free introductory details about products from Lambda ...
