Lambda expands in North Devon
Nick Harvey, the Member of Parliament for North Devon, has unveiled a plaque commemorating the opening of the new extension to Lambda's Ilfracombe manufacturing plant.
Nick Harvey, the Member of Parliament for North Devon, has unveiled a plaque commemorating the opening of the new extension to Lambda's Ilfracombe manufacturing plant.
Regarded as a centre of excellence for UK manufacturing, the plant has been extended with the building of a mezzanine floor and related structural works which has created an additional 750m2 of production area, bringing the amount invested to GBP 1.8 million in the last 2 years.
"Ilfracombe and North Devon should take pride in having such a strong manufacturing company here", commented Harvey.
"Its recent adoption of the most modern practices positions it perfectly as its key markets - like telecomms - recover and grow".
The additional space is required to house the company's telecomms rectifier power supply business following its transfer to Ilfracombe and quickly follows the opening of the new DC/DC convertor production line at the site.
Telecomms rectifiers are an important component of DC energy systems which are used in power telecomms infrastructure equipment worldwide.
Lambda's rectifier operations include the assembly of three ranges of rectifier power supplies: the 1500W LR, the 2000W WR and the 5.6kW LRFHI, together with BT LR48 and LR24 rectifier rack systems.
Associated rectifier components such as controllers and systems boards are also manufactured within a fully refurbished production area.
The new mezzanine area houses the production lines of Lambda's latest families of configurable AC/DC power supplies, Sirius and Vega.
Architects and clerk of works for the expansion project were RGP Architects of Barnstaple.
Main contractors were Pearce Construction.
