General-purpose power supplies boost efficiency
The LS50, LS75 and LS100 have 88 to 264V AC inputs, while the LS150 is switch-selectable for 115 or 230V AC, minimising the cost.
Power supplies cater for short-term peaks
Units provide a very cost and space efficient solution compared with oversizing conventional power supplies just to handle the peak current.
Unmatched transient response and tight line/load regulation put it way out in front of its competitors.
Aimed at 'point-of-load' applications, the new convertor has a user-selectable output voltage range of 0.9 to 3.3V.
Fixed by a single resistor, the choice of output voltage on one model offers designers total flexibility in a market of rapidly changing processor voltages.
It makes them ideally suited to the latest generation of microprocessor, microcontroller and DSP devices.
"Due to such low voltages used by micros today engineers really cannot afford sudden voltage transients within a design", said Edward Wright, DC/DC Product Manager.
"Transient response for both input and output is therefore a key factor when choosing a POL convertor.
The PL10 outstrips the competition in respect of the fact that the PL10 can achieve a voltage as low as 80mV with a settling time of just 40ms using very low cost electrolytic capacitors".
When designing DC/DC convertors setting the switching frequency creates a trade off between desired efficiency and undesired ripple voltage.
Using synchronous rectifier technology Lambda has optimised the switching frequency at 300kHz, delivering efficiencies of up to 96% and ripple voltages as low as 16mV peak-peak.
The Tarka range offers designers built-in current limit and short-circuit protection, as well as overtemperature protection.
Input logic shutdown is also provided.
"The Tarka range's technical advantages combined with its local UK manufacture, put it head and shoulders above competing point-of-load products", added Wright.
"Making the new units at Lambda's world-class Ilfracombe plant means that we can guarantee European customers rapid delivery and low MOQs, essential to today's OEMs". Request a free brochure from Lambda ...
