Switcher crams 1500W into 1U of rack
The Genesys 1U 1500W programmable switching power supply has the highest power density ever offered in a 1U size.
The Genesys 1U 1500W programmable switching power supply has the highest power density ever offered in a 1U size.
Also offered in 750W, it is the first in an advanced, high-density series of AC/DC, rack-mount power supplies.
Outputs available range up to 600V and 200A.
In addition to saving space, Genesys power supplies contain extensive standard features that provide a new level of performance and flexibility in ATE, industrial and communications applications.
In addition to highest power density, for the first time a universal input is available in this size and power.
The wide range input is not just dual range, but continuously variable from 85 to 265V AC, single phase, 50/60Hz.
It also features active power factor correction of 0.99 at full load, another first in this size and density.
This assures operation in difficult AC environments and meets European EMC requirements.
The user-friendly front panel provides reliable control through encoders selectable for fine or course adjustment (6 or 30 turns) and four digit LED voltage and current meters.
Adjustable OVP, UVL and current foldback provide further flexibility.
Their set values may be previewed on the front panel display.
The foldback may be set to latch output off if desired for safety.
Other significant safety features include safe start and last setting memory.
With safe start, the user can select whether the Genesys power supply returns to previous settings after power off, or returns to zero (safe) output, waiting for user instructions.
Last setting memory retains settings of output voltage and current, remote or local mode, OVP and UVL, foldback, baud rate and start up mode, without battery.
Front panel controls also include output on/off and local/remote selection.
In another first, the new Lambda EMI series includes standard, embedded 16bit RS232/RS485 digital interface.
Through this digital interface up to 31 power supplies may be controlled in daisychain over the RS485 line.
Analogue remote programming is user selectable 0-5 or 0-10V via DIP switches on the rear panel.
In test systems, up to four power supplies may be connected in parallel with one wire current share control, or two may be connected in series.
The design of Genesys power supplies is highly modular to offer short lead times.
SMT technology provides high reliability.
Both digital and isolated analogue interfaces are optional.
The optional IEEE digital interface is IEEE488.2 and SCPI compliant.
Labview drivers are available.
Isolated analogue programming options include either 0-5 and 0-10V or 4-20mA control.
