Configurable supply gains 48V DC input option
Lambda has developed a 48V DC input version of its very popular Vega 450 power supply.
Lambda has developed a 48V DC input version of its very popular Vega 450 power supply.
Using the same footprint and range of output modules as the standard AC/DC unit, the new power supply delivers up to 450W from inputs ranging from 36 to 75V DC.
"We pride ourselves in not only listening to what our customers have to say but also in acting upon it", said Martin Southam Lambda's Marketing Director.
"In direct response to feedback that customers like the option of AC or DC input products we have developed a 48V DC input version of our Vega 450 configurable power supply.
The new supply is ideal for use in battery backup systems, is a much improved replacement for our older Omega DC input series and is a great complement to the AC input Vega".
The inherent versatility of Vega, allowing designers to configure up to ten outputs with any output voltage from 0.25 to 62V, spells the virtual end for the custom DC power supply.
A comprehensive range of configurable output modules, comprising 43 single-channel and 25 dual channel, means that an "off-the-shelf" Vega is able to accurately match DC output requirements which were previously only achievable using custom units, and at a fraction of the price.
The new DC Vega requires no minimum load and supports both forward and reverse cooling thus allowing users to implement flexible cooling configurations for optimised operation.
Output module functions include inhibit, module good, remote sense and parallel.
Typical efficiency is 75% at full load and the new supply comes complete with short circuit and over voltage protection.
Input connection is via screw terminals while there is a choice of screw or faston output terminals.
CE marked in accordance with the LVD, the new DC supply carries a host of environmental and safety approvals including EN55022 Class B, UL1950, CSA22.2 No950, EN60950, IEC60950, EN61010-1 and UL3101-1.
Vega is the fastest growing Lambda product ever.
In the autumn of 2003 the company made further significant investments in the Vega production line at its Ilfracombe manufacturing plant to maintain its "same day" build service for samples and pre-production orders while facing a demand that is forecast to quadruple over the next two years.
