Configurable supplies pass military
tests
Lambda's Vega and Vega-Lite series of configurable power supplies have achieved military-approved performance levels.
Lambda's Vega and Vega-Lite series of configurable power supplies have achieved military-approved performance levels Following intensive shock and vibration tests, Vega and Vega-Lite have been demonstrated to meet the functional shock, transit drop, bench handling, basic transportation and shipboard vibration requirements of the US military standard MIL-STD-810E

General-purpose power supplies boost efficiency
The LS50, LS75 and LS100 have 88 to 264V AC inputs, while the LS150 is switch-selectable for 115 or 230V AC, minimising the cost.
Power supplies cater for short-term peaks
Units provide a very cost and space efficient solution compared with oversizing conventional power supplies just to handle the peak current.
The tests, which included subjecting regular production units to 40g for 11ms, are designed to simulate the harsh handling conditions that a unit in service is likely to be exposed to.
Other tests included a 1.2m drop test on each of the unit's 26 faces, corners and edges, and a vibration sweep test that subjected a unit to ten cycles between 10 and 500Hz.
Both Vega and Vega-Lite were visually, mechanically and functionally tested after each simulation, and found to be in full working order.
Lambda's Vega Series gives designers looking for ever higher levels of power, compact, off-the-shelf solutions to meet their needs in a wide range of medical, industrial control, computing, communications and instrumentation applications.
Comments Paul Goodwin, Product Manager with Lambda: "Vega has been a major success for Lambda".
"At its introduction, the unit set the standard for configurable AC/DC power supplies".
"Now we have demonstrated that our designs and manufacturing processes ensure that both Vega and Vega-Lite deliver even under the harshest of conditions".
"Whatever your application, Vega won't let you down".
The Vega has no minimum load requirement, and one to ten fixed or adjustable outputs that give designers a choice of output voltages.
The inherent versatility of Vega lies in its high degree of configurability.
Output module functions include inhibit, module good, remote sense and parallel.
Typical efficiency is 75% at full load and the supply comes complete with short circuit and over-voltage protection.
CE marked in accordance with the LVD, Vega carries a host of environmental and safety approvals including EN55022 Class B, EN60950-1, IEC 60950-1, UL60950-1, CSA22.2 No 60950-1, EN61010-1, IEC61010-1.
Standard leakage current is 1.5mA and versions with leakage currents down to 50uA are also available for medical applications with EN60601-1, IEC60601-1 and UL60601-1 safety approvals. Request a free brochure from Lambda ...
