Board mount switchers squeeze in more power
PCB mountable AC/DC power supplies meet demand for ever more diminutive, lightweight PSUs in applications ranging from factory automation to instrumentation.
The latest generation of KPS PCB mountable AC/DC power supplies from Lambda, the KPSA Series, has undergone a further shrink to meet demand for ever more diminutive, lightweight AC/DC supplies in fields as diverse as factory automation, telecomms and datacomms, printers and motor drives and instrumentation.
Lambda has introduced three models: the KPSA-5, the KPSA-10 and the KPSA-15, offering 5, 10 and 15W power levels, respectively.
Each model is available in a variety of standard output voltages from 3.3 to 24V DC with intermediate voltages available on request.
The input range for the KPSA Series is 85 to 264V AC, 47 to 63Hz or 100 to 370V DC.
The KPSA units have been rated for operation in a convection-cooled environment from 0 to 70C, with appropriate derating.
At 28g and with a package size of 55 x 33 x 21mm for the 5W unit, ranging to just 48g and a compact 70 x 45 x 20mm for the 15W unit, the KPSA variants require less board space, yet are pin compatible with their earlier counterparts.
No external components are needed.
Additional features include built in short circuit protection (hiccup mode) and overvoltage protection.
The KPSA Series meets EN61000-4 immunity and Class B EMI standards, plus they are safety approved to UL60950-1, CSA60950-1 and EN60950-1.
The units are CE marked and RoHS compliant.
