The PFE500F comes in a compact 70 x 12.7 x 122mm package and can be cooled using a cold plate or an optional heatsink.

Lambda has extended its PFE series of AC/DC full-brick power modules with the PFE500F including active current sharing and remote on/off.

Like the existing PFE300, PFE500 and PFE700 models, the new PFE500F versions provide a convenient AC/DC board mounted solution for applications - such as industrial, datacomms and telecomms - but bring further functionality.

The output current balance connection enables up to six PFE500F units to be paralleled together to accommodate increased power requirements and/or redundancy.

In addition, the positive logic remote on/off control and inverter operation good (IOG) functions provide greater flexibility in the startup or shutdown sequencing and/diagnostics of the power system.

An auxiliary power supply (10-14V, 20mA) is also integrated for external signals.

The fully regulated PFE500F models are available in 12, 28 and 48V nominal outputs and can be adjusted over a +/-20% range.

The 12V PFE500F delivers up to 504W with a maximum baseplate temperature of 85C, whereas the 28 and 48V models deliver the same output at up to 100C.

Line and load regulation is 0.4%, and efficiency exceeds 83% in all versions.

All versions of the PFE500F accept a wide AC input from 85 to 265V at 47-63Hz, have active power factor correction and an input to output isolation of 3kV and an enhanced surge immunity level of 6kV with application circuit.

In addition, overvoltage, overcurrent and overtemperature protections are included.

All PFE500F models are delivered with Lambda's two-year warranty, are safety-approved to UL60950-1, CSA60950-1 (cUL) and EN60950-1, and carry the CE mark.
