Embedded Performance is to provide support for the newly introduced Cavium Networks Octeon network services processors (NSPs).
Cavium Networks Octeon is the industry's first single-chip network services processor family based on the MIPS64 architecture which delivers high-performance Layer 3 to Layer 7 networking functionality with a standard software-programming model.
Embedded Performance's offering includes the proprietary EDB source-level debugger, the Majic-MX JTAG intelligent debug probe and OpenDebug software interfaces, supporting a wide range of development environments.
This combination is ideal for interfacing with the on-chip debug facilities of the MIPS64-based Octeon processors to deliver a high-performance debug environment that requires no software instrumentation and uses no resources of the system under development.
The Majic-MX JTAG probe complements and extends the on-chip debug facilities of the Cavium Networks Octeon NSPs, to provide greater control and visibility of the hardware and software operation, including unique capabilities such as multicore debug support.
The Majic-MX JTAG probe provides a high-speed interface for debugging the hardware, software and firmware in new customer designs based on Octeon processors.
It includes support for multicore concurrent debug of the 2 to 16 cnMIPS cores embedded in Octeon, fast program download, Flash memory programming and extensive memory and regression test capabilities.
"We are excited to offer the Majic-MX JTAG probe and related software tools to support the industry standard tool chains for the Cavium Networks Octeon NSPs", said Lyle Pittroff, Vice President of Marketing for EPI.
"Our tools coupled with the Cavium Networks development platform will enable customers to quickly debug and bring up their software and hardware designs, allowing them to focus their resources on implementing value-added features in their products".
"Robust development capabilities for our Octeon NSPs such as those provided by Embedded Performance's tools are important for our customers", said Rajiv Khemani, Vice President of Marketing for Cavium Networks.
"The EPI tool offering that takes advantage of Octeon NSPs unique and extensive multicore debug capabilities will help developers get products to market faster and efficiently".
EPI Tools support for the Cavium Networks Octeon NSPs will be available in early 2005 from Logic Technology.
