eSOL has formed a strategic partnership with System Level Solutions to offer flexible USB solutions for Altera's Nios II soft-core processor.

eSOL offers its leading real time operating system PrKernelv4 for the versatile Nios II soft-core processor running on Stratix, Stratix II and Cyclone FPGAs from Altera.

SLS provides Nios II-ready USB IP, fully integrated with PrKernelv4 on Altera's standard development kit boards using the SLS USB snap-in daughter board.

PrKernelv4 is a compact pre-emptive kernel suited for real-time embedded applications and offers a rich set of more than 120 system calls.

It also offers tight and seamless integration with the latest Nios II integrated development environment and hardware abstraction layer from Altera.

The use of the PrKernelv4 RTOS along with SLS's USB IP core facilitates development of USB-enabled equipment to satisfy the ever growing demand for USB connectivity in embedded systems.

As a result of this partnership, when Nios II developers develop a USB-enabled product, they can concentrate on application and system differentiation rather than wasting time integrating building blocks from different vendors.

"We are very pleased to have ready-to-use USB solutions for our PrKernelv4 RTOS in the Nios II environment", said Tomoyuki Uda, Managing Director at eSOL.

"As an RTOS vendor, it is our mission to continue to simplify the user's development process by integrating valuable middleware into our kernel".

"Combining the USB IP, RTOS, and Windows driver creates an out of the box solution for embedded systems using Altera's NIOS II processor", said Paresh Patel, CEO of SLS.

"PrKernelv4 RTOS perfectly complements our USB 1.1 Device IP core".

eSOL develops, markets and sells real time operating system suites and integrated development environments for leading 32bit embedded microprocessors and is represented by Logic Technology.
